Summary: This blog post describes the ways in which facial recognition technology is inequitable. The technology is much more accurate for white men than for darker skinned people and women. It also describes how surveillance is done disproportionately in black neighborhoods versus white neighborhoods. The article finishes by describing a few ways to help fix the issues.
Take Action!
Research facial recognition companies and divest from problematic ones if you own stocks in them. If you have such a device at your house, consider replacing it.
